Nao
Originally from the Bay of Biscay, it was large vessel, with a round stern, having both a fore and an aft castle, a wide beam and more evolved shapes than the carrack. It had three masts with square-rigged sails and one mast with lateen sails and a capacity of about 200 tons.
Naos were used as ships of exploration and for transport in the Age of Discovery, between the 15th and 16th centuries.
