Caravel

A small sailing ship without neither a forecastle nor a nor an aftercastle, rigged with lateen sails, and only in the case of long voyages, with square sails. It had elegant shapes, a shallow draft and low cargo capacity, but great maneuverability.

Caravel which departed Veracruz (MEX) bound for Spain. She sunk in Florida in 1559 due to a storm. Captained by Juan de la Puerta. She belonged to The Nueva España Fleet.
