On Friday, July 13, 1733, the Nueva España Fleet, under the command of General Rodrigo de Torres, left the port of Havana bound for Spain. The fleet consisted of 4 escort galleons, 16 merchant ships and 2 small ships that transported supplies to the Presidio St. Augustine.

In the 1960s, most of the remains of the 1733 fleet were relocated, but there is still confusion about the identity of some of the ships, as their names and locations vary according to the documents examined. The real “treasure” of the 1733 fleet is the opportunity to visit the living remains of ships from a bygone era.
